Thought of the Day

Some mornings, it is so tempting to ignore Alzheimer’s and want to run away from it the minute I wake up. To say battling dementia is easy would be the fattest lie ever told. But it is a force that I have unexplainably decided to stand up to for the sake of my mom’s dignity and hope. I continue to say it is an unbelievably fascinating disease to watch unfold while also being a disheartening experience to live through, especially for my mom. Which is why I am her advocate and her anchor even when I get weary. I see that we apparently have a signature pose that naturally keeps appearing through this journey: side by side presence facing the unknown that comes each and every hour of each and every day.

Until,

Marie
